The dragon which is shown on the front is based on an ancient painting inside the ceiling of the Hattō hall of Shōkoku-ji Temple (相国寺) – Kyoto, Japan. This dragon is the guardian of this temple and is said to be painted by a famous painter Kanō Mitsunobu (1565–1608) and his work can be found in many of Japan’s royal castles. Dragons in Japanese culture represents strength, courage and wisdom and usually associated with the element of water.

The writing on the back says “Shoryu no ikioi” which translates loosely to “The power of the ascending dragon” – this is an idiom used to describe an unstoppable force. A force that can be found in everyone to achieve success and greatness in anything they put their mind to.
